Hello, I’m Sandy Smith, and I have the training and experience to bring all your ideas to life.
I can expertly provide a wide range of voices from little girls to elderly women as well as regional American (southern, Upper Midwest, Chicago Urban), British- Standard & Cockney, and Russian dialects. My acting experience and ability to think on my feet enables me to take your written material using my energy and “vocal tool box” to create the voice you’re looking for. Talent and Training Make the Difference
After graduating from Augustana College with a degree in speech and drama, I began workshopping Improvisational Theatre for three years at Second City in Chicago studying under and performing with Del Close and Josephine Forsberg. I really love the mojo I got and still receive from this kind of acting. My stint as a singing telegram messenger gave me an extra “OOMPH” to make me think on my feet quickly, and instill a dynamic energy and feel good lively experience for the audience.
Improv helped me perfect my voices and accents and taught me what it means to dig deep into the creative process. It also intensified my desire to make voiceover as my career which led me to train at Edge Studio with Joe Loesch and David Goldberg. I continue taking voice classes to augment my voices and characters. I also find inspiration in the vocal talents of the legendary Marc Garue, an incredibly gifted character voice actor who specializes in numerous voice genres, and Dave Fennoy, an outstanding voice actor whose genres include video games.
